Construction of waste thermal treatment facility КТО-1000.Ш for JSCо Russian Railways began in Irkutsk region

The modernization project of Russian railways aims to replace old wooden sleepers on concrete ones. As a result, 1 million of sleepers per year were recognized as unserviceable. These wastes represents a serious threat to the environment. The new recycling facility of old wooden sleepers is going to be built by decision of Russian Railways at the East-Siberian railway section within the environmental safety of the Baikal region support program.

JSCо Russian Railways requested the Safe Technologies to expand an existing plant for waste disposal while designing a new facility to increase production capacity, improve the technology and performance of the equipment used.

At the heart of the facility is the company’s own development, incinerator КТО-1000.Ш that is capable to dispose at least 1,000 kilograms of old sleepers per hour. Thus, the new equipment will increase the overall performance of the facility in three times.

Multi-stage flue gas cleaning system is a part of the scope of supply. In accordance with the thermal balance, the heat generated during the process will be consumed for heating, ventilation and hot water supply of buildings at the facility and surrounding areas.

Process control is carried out from the operators. The automated system minimizes the consumption of expensive diesel fuel to maintain combustion processes of waste and post-combustion of flue gas, taking into account the actual calorific value of waste.
