Solemn ceremony launch of the Waste Thermal Treatment Facility KTO-500 in Yaroslavl
On 28th of July Yaroslavl region held the ceremonial launch of the Waste Thermal Treatment Facility KTO-500. The ceremony was opened by the President of JSC Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin, the Governor of Yaroslavl Sergei Jastrebov, the Head of Rospotrebnadzor Russia Anna Popova, Managing Director of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Philippe Scholtès.
KTO-500 is the turnkey project of Safe Technologies Industrial Group. Construction of the plant was carried out as a part of the general environmental strategy of Russian Railways to reduce the load on the environment and minimize the damage. Including solid wastes, sludge, tar, paint-and-lacquer materials etc.
The facility consists of several production lines: the line of thermal waste treatment (500 kg/h), the line of sludge dewatering (9 cubic m/h) and steam turbine line (150 kW).
Heat recovery system provides heating and hot water for household and industrial premises. Thermal energy produced in the process of neutralization is converted into electrical energy for the local needs of the enterprise. The plant is characterized by enhanced gas treatment system and includes energy recovery unit. Innovative control system is fully automated.
KTO-500 is not the only project that was prepared for Russian Railways by Safe Technologies Industrial Group. In 2013 КТО-1000.Ш was commissioned in the Irkutsk region on the Tagul station for safe railway sleepers utilization.
